FishAtlas Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Streams to Summits LLC, a Montana limited liability company (“Streams to Summits,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, stores, discloses, and otherwise processes information in connection with FishAtlas, including the FishAtlas mobile application, related websites, beta versions, support services, and other services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Service”). FishAtlas is owned and operated by Streams to Summits LLC.
1. Information we collect
Account and authentication information
If you create or use a FishAtlas account, we may process your first name, email address, authentication provider, account identifier, and related account metadata. FishAtlas may support email and password, Sign in with Apple, and Google Sign-In. A third-party sign-in provider may send FishAtlas information you authorize it to share.
Fishing profile and personalization information
We may collect or store information you provide about your fishing interests and preferences, including experience level, target species, fishing method, priorities, preferred water type, and travel or drive-time range. We use this information to personalize Guide recommendations and other app content.
Location information
With your permission, FishAtlas may access precise or approximate device location while you use the app. Location can be used to center maps, identify nearby waters, retrieve nearby gauges and environmental information, generate Guide recommendations, show local forecasts, and support other location-based features. FishAtlas may also process coordinates you search, tap, save, or use with a feature.
Saved waters, favorites, lists, and offline content
When you intentionally save a waterbody or other content, FishAtlas may store the relevant record locally and, for signed-in features that support synchronization, in cloud storage associated with your account. Saved-water records may include the waterbody name and identifier, type, geographic coordinates, region, species or fishing information, notes, associated gauge identifiers, and timestamps. Downloaded offline map resources may remain on your device.
Photos, camera, and identification features
FishAtlas may allow you to take or choose a photo for identification features. Camera or photo-library access occurs only after the relevant iOS permission or selection. Where FishAtlas uses on-device Apple image-analysis technologies, the selected image can be analyzed on the device rather than uploaded to Streams to Summits solely for that identification process. If a future optional feature uses cloud image processing, FishAtlas will disclose that processing and update this policy where required.
Purchase and subscription information
FishAtlas may offer subscriptions through Apple. Apple processes payment methods and billing details. We do not receive your full payment-card number from Apple. FishAtlas may process information needed to recognize an entitlement, including product identifiers, subscription status, transaction identifiers, expiration or revocation status, and related StoreKit information.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, FishAtlas may store preferences such as whether you want fishing-condition alerts, saved-water alerts, weather alerts, trip reminders, or product updates. Apple and push infrastructure may process a device push token or similar identifier needed to deliver notifications.
Technical and support information
We and our service providers may receive technical information necessary to operate and secure the Service, such as IP address, device or operating-system information, app version, network information, request timestamps, authentication metadata, service logs, and error information. If you contact support, we may collect your email, name, message, attachments, and information needed to investigate the issue.
2. How we use information
We may use information to provide, maintain, secure, personalize, and improve FishAtlas; authenticate users; generate fishing recommendations; display maps, nearby waters, forecasts, gauges, bathymetry, public-access information, and environmental data; save and synchronize user-selected content; process subscription entitlements; deliver requested alerts; respond to support; detect abuse or security incidents; debug reliability problems; enforce our Terms; comply with law; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
FishAtlas may use rules, algorithms, environmental information, geographic inputs, and user preferences to rank or generate recreational fishing recommendations. These features are not used to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning employment, credit, housing, insurance, or other regulated eligibility decisions.
3. How we disclose information
We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate FishAtlas, including authentication, cloud database, hosting, security, notification, mapping, support, and infrastructure providers. We may also disclose information where necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or security incidents, enforce agreements, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Apple
FishAtlas uses Apple technologies and services that may include the App Store, StoreKit, Sign in with Apple, MapKit, Apple location services, Apple Vision, notifications, and TestFlight. Apple processes information associated with those services under Apple’s policies and terms.
Google and Firebase
FishAtlas may use Google/Firebase services for Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Google Sign-In, and related infrastructure. Depending on the feature, these services may process account identifiers, email addresses, authentication information, IP addresses, user-agent information, saved-water records, notification settings, timestamps, and related service data.
Government, mapping, weather, and environmental data providers
FishAtlas may query government agencies, mapping services, weather services, hydrologic services, species databases, and other providers to return location-specific information. Requests may contain a coordinate, geographic search area, waterbody name, or search term necessary to provide the requested feature. Data sources may include U.S. Geological Survey, NOAA, National Weather Service or related public weather sources, state fish and wildlife agencies, and other public or licensed providers.
4. No sale of personal information
FishAtlas does not currently sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration and does not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. FishAtlas does not currently use third-party advertising SDKs to track a person’s activity across unrelated companies’ apps or websites for targeted advertising. If these practices materially change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required controls.
5. Location privacy
You control iOS location permission. Current device location may be used during a session to retrieve nearby results and recommendations. FishAtlas may transmit a coordinate or geographic search area to mapping, weather, hydrologic, or environmental providers when necessary to obtain requested information. Saving a waterbody may store that waterbody’s coordinates in your account; that is different from continuously storing a history of everywhere you travel.
6. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain an account, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and maintain appropriate business records. Account-associated saved data is generally retained until you remove it, delete the account, or the information is no longer needed. Local caches and offline data may remain on the device until they expire, are deleted, are replaced, or the app is removed.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated access, encryption in transit, service-provider security controls, and account-scoped database access where applicable. No electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. Your choices
- Location: grant, deny, or revoke FishAtlas location permission through iOS Settings.
- Camera and photos: control camera and photo access through iOS permissions and Apple’s photo picker.
- Notifications: change available FishAtlas preferences and system notification permission.
- Marketing email: use the unsubscribe mechanism when provided.
- Saved content: remove saved waters and other user-controlled content through available controls.
9. Account deletion
FishAtlas will provide a way for users to initiate deletion of their account from within the public app. During beta testing, if that control is not yet available, contact [email protected] with the subject “FishAtlas Account Deletion.” Deleting a FishAtlas account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.
10. Privacy rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection; withdraw consent; opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; and appeal certain privacy-request decisions. Contact [email protected] to exercise a right not available directly in the app. We may need to verify your identity.
11. Children’s privacy
FishAtlas is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without legally required parental consent. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information in violation of this section.
12. International users
Streams to Summits is based in the United States, and service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on lawful mechanisms and safeguards for international transfers. Individuals in the EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other jurisdictions may have additional rights under local law.
13. TestFlight and beta testing
FishAtlas may be distributed through Apple TestFlight before public release. Beta builds may be incomplete and may generate crash, diagnostic, or feedback information through Apple or through information a tester intentionally submits. Apple operates TestFlight under Apple’s terms and privacy practices.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as FishAtlas changes, service providers change, or legal requirements evolve. We will update the effective or “last updated” date when changes are made and provide additional notice where required.
